Laser resurfacing can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles of the entire face, or those that develop in specific regions of the face, such as the upper lip and around the eyes. As skin ages, the dermis thins and loses collagen. Laser energy can be used to damage or injure the skin in a controlled way. Injury to the skin results in healing and collagen production. The healing phase results in greater quantities of collagen and an improved appearance. Skin quality can be improved and wrinkles reduced. Side effects can include pigmentation changes.
